Guarantee you will love it! A great piece for any collection.
Unusual and Rare.
Fabulous vase - Beautiful gold with a silvery/green hue at top and bottom. See photos. I can post more photos.
It has the shape and color of Steuben Glass and I have been told by Steuben Glass Dealers that it is Steuben. However it has a Tiffany signature on the bottom.
It was common for Steuben pieces not to be signed. Steuben produced 500 different shapes in the Gold Aurene. I have had art glass dealers and collectors look at the vase. They all agree this is Steuben. The color and finish are the key factors.
What about that faux signature? Well, the Antique Roadshow said this on one show about the faux Tiffany signatures on art glass pieces :
In the 1960s and 1970s, when collectors began to pay increasing sums for Tiffany, "people would take any unsigned piece of iridescent glass and put a Tiffany signature on it," Arlie explains.
Unsavory and unknowing glass owners even added a Tiffany signature to quality pieces such as Steuben and Loetz, studios that sent out many of their iridescent pieces unsigned. "We once saw a beautiful Loetz flower-form glass vase—it screamed of Loetz—and it had a magnificent Tiffany signature," Arlie says, adding, "It's the glass you should be collecting not the signatures. I always look at forms and colors."
I think it is a fabulous example of Steuben Gold Aurene.
